Positive psychology is interested in the well-being and everything that can contribute to it. Therefore, The goal is not in disease (physical or mental), suffering, or even relationship problems.

Hence, the Positive psychology Definition is from the manifesto of positive psychology, published in 1999 by the most outstanding specialists in this discipline:

“Positive psychology is a scientific reflection on optimal human functioning. It aims to isolate and highlight the factors promoting the development of individuals and communities. This school embodies a new approach by researcher psychologists: it focuses on the origins of good psychological health by going beyond the emphasis previously placed on illness and disorder. »»

Positive psychology was born out of many scientific works revealing how to achieve physical and mental well-being, develop capacities and achieve human development.

FOR WHO?

Positive psychology is for anyone (children, adolescents, adults) wishing a life above the primary line, defined by the absence of disorders and diseases (“Life Above Zero”).

ITS GOAL

Its objectives are prevention and care, education, professional support, and helping relationships. Thus, its goal is to increase happiness, much more than the absence of suffering or misfortune.

The circumstances surrounding our inner life sometimes give us a more dramatic vision of life than it is.

Thus, positive psychology recommends modifying beliefs, and thoughts and initiating other behaviours through strategies, and tools, developed on a scientific and experimental basis.

You should know that the awareness of the complex mechanisms involved is already a step towards liberation. Understanding what hurts is the first step towards (I only say the 1st step) well-being. It is then a question of gradually learning to guide our reflections in the right direction. This work on oneself generates modifications of specific operating modes (thoughts, emotions, behaviours) and thus transforms daily life.

Change our habits

Psychology identifies three primordial stages to modify behaviour:

1 – We must understand why this new behaviour would do us good;

2 – It is vital for us to feel its interest to withdraw a positive impact;

3 – You have to act to create and ink this new behaviour.

Notably, Happiness is a choice in life.

Choosing to appreciate pleasant emotions: joy, enthusiasm, pride …,

Deciding to involve in activities that we love, which fulfil us, for which we feel helpful, in which we realize,

choose to favour inspiring and nourishing relationships,

Be satisfied with your accomplishment, what we experienced,

Remain serene and experience the joy of being alive, regardless of external circumstances (sorrows, trials, adventures .)

Overcome difficulties based on individual forces and environmental resources:

– self -confidence and forces of character, welcome and recognition of emotions,

– Adaptation, acceptance and resilience

– commitment, educational and professional orientation, stress management,

-the quality of life, well-being at work, communication

– Positive pedagogy and benevolent parenting, couple relationship.
